Club President Wendy’s Speech Highlights
And so, in keeping with the club’s vision, here are my hopes and dreams for the coming year:
CONNECTION & RELATIONSHIPS
We each have our own reasons for joining Rotary— service, fellowship, networking, programs, and lunch, just to name a few. And while not all of us share the same reasons for joining Rotary, we do share a primary reason for staying—the enjoyment that comes from making a connection.
PRIMARY FOCUS
And so, my hope for the 2011-2012 Rotary year is that our club’s primary focus will be on strengthening relationships:
1. Relationships between our club members 2. Relationships with our community 3. Relationships with our youth 4. Relationships with other Rotary clubs

Community Service History
Did you know??? The Philomath School Reader Board was a gift from the Rotary Club of Philomath. It was originally on Main St. but was moved to the high school when the highway couplet was installed.

MINI MINUTES
This is a highly abbreviated report of the minutes from the May 26 Board of Directors meeting.
- RYLA- We have 3 applicants. We will sponsor 2 and Corvallis Morning Club will sponsor 1 camper.
- Donations- The Board is determining who and how much support to distribute. An adhoc committee is being formed to advise the Board.
- Foundation- Don is sending personal letters to each member showing their donation total. Hopefully, members will contribute more before June 30.
- Membership- Peggy noted that OSU will be hiring up to 100 new faculty – a possible source of new members.
- Old Business- Benton Co. Foundation is no longer a Rotary sponsored foundation. Therefore the Board is considering that our donations go to a different local foundation.
- Fundraiser- A Beaver-drop was considered and discussed.
- New Business- How to increase member participation in events was discussed.
The next Board meeting will be Tuesday, June 14, 4 PM at Philomath branch of Citizens Bank. All members are welcome to attend. New members must attend one Board meeting to earn their blue badge.

Exchange Student Farewell Party
Good food, fun and conversation were enjoyed Sunday evening at John and Sue’s. It was a treat to meet Teresa’s host families and visit with former member Meredith Howell and her sons Graham and Drew Shields. Many thanks, John and Sue, for your great hospitality.

Evidence of Rotary is everywhere. Missoula, Montana has a carousel. One of the horses has 2 Rotary logos engraved on it. Peggy and my grand-daughter PHF Melissa with her son Marley took turns riding it.
